Gagan General Store

Gagan General Store is located in Maruti Enclave over in Kanpur. This area has changed quite a bit since we first started, but the shop stays mostly the same. Being in 208001 means we see a lot of local families coming through for their daily stuff. It's not a huge place, so you have to walk carefully through the rows sometimes. I usually spend my time checking the stock and writing down what we need to get for next week on a scrap of paper. Sometimes the kids from the neighborhood come in for snacks after school, and it gets a bit noisy for a while. It’s a basic shop, really. We have the usual things like flour, oil, and some household cleaners. Nothing too special, just the essentials people use every day. Living and working in the same area makes you feel connected to everyone. You hear about who’s moving or whose car broke down. I don't really have a big team, just a couple of us making sure things are on the shelves. It’s hard work standing all day, and my back sometimes hurts by the time we close up and head home. But it’s what I know how to do. We don't try to be anything we aren't. If we have it, we sell it. If we don't, I try to remember to get it next time the supplier comes around. That's just how it goes here in Maruti Enclave.
