Durga Manufacturing Co.

We are tucked away in the Tannery Compound, right near Zarib Chowki. It’s an old part of the city and the walls of our building definitely show it. Inside Durga Manufacturing Co., it’s mostly the sound of machines humming and people talking over the noise of the floor. We’ve been at 87/8 for quite a while now. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, but we get the work done. There is often a lot of scrap metal and materials lying around in piles. We make things that other people need for their own businesses. The air is usually thick with the smell of oil and old industrial buildings. We start every day by opening up the big metal shutters to let some light in. Usually, the tea guy comes by around ten o'clock. We take a few minutes then to sit and talk. It’s a small team here. Most of us live nearby, so we just walk or bike into work. Zarib Chowki is always busy with traffic and people, so it’s nice to be just slightly off the main road. We don't have fancy brochures or a glossy catalog. If someone wants to see what we do, they just come to the workshop. We show them the machines and the finished parts we have on the shelves. It’s a bit cramped in the office, but that’s where we handle the bills. It’s just how things are in this part of town. We work hard, go home, and do it again.
