Deepak General Store

Deepak General Store has been sitting here at 86/260 in Chamanganj for quite some time now. Kanpur is a busy place, and Raipurwa stays noisy most of the day, but we just keep doing our thing. It is a small shop, nothing fancy to look at, just shelves filled with stuff people need every morning. Most of the people living around here know where we are. We start early, usually before the sun gets too high, getting the milk crates ready and making sure the floor is swept. Sometimes the supplies don't arrive on time because of the traffic on the main road, but we manage. You find mostly household items here, things for the kitchen or just basic things for the house. It is a one-man show most days, though sometimes a cousin helps out when it gets crowded in the evenings. We know the regulars by their first names and what they usually buy without them even asking. The shop is located right in the middle of everything, so there is always someone popping in for a quick packet of salt or some soap. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the name above the door. It's just a regular local spot where the neighbors come to get their daily bits and pieces. It stays open until late at night because you never know when someone might run out of sugar or need a torch battery. That's just how life goes in Chamanganj.
