Dasar General Store

Dasar General Store has been sitting here at 50/225 Latouche Road for a good while now. If you know Kanpur, you know how busy Latouche Road gets, especially being so close to Bans Mandi Chauraha. It’s always noisy outside with the rickshaws and people rushing about all day. We open the shutters pretty early every morning because people usually need things before they start their work or head to the market. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just shelves full of whatever people in the neighborhood need to get by. We’ve got soaps, pulses, snacks, and all those small household items that always seem to run out when you least expect it. Sometimes the fans aren't enough for the Kanpur heat, so it gets a bit warm inside, but we manage just fine. Most of the people who come in are regulars from around the area. We know their faces and what they usually ask for without them even saying it. It’s a simple life running a shop like this. We don’t have any fancy displays or anything like that. Things are just stacked where they fit on the shelves. Sometimes we have to move boxes around to find what someone wants, but that’s just how it is here. My family helps out when it gets crowded in the evenings. We just try to keep the stock topped up so nobody goes away empty-handed. It’s just us, doing our thing on this corner.
