We are over in the Civil Lines area, right at 16/38. It’s a well-known part of town, mostly because the Income Tax Office is just nearby. People use that as a landmark when they are trying to find us for the first time. Our office is a bit old-fashioned, with heavy wooden desks and tall stacks of files that seem to grow every week. It’s usually a bit quieter here than in the main market areas, though you still get the sound of scooters and the occasional rickshaw passing by. We spend our mornings going through paperwork and talking to people who drop in. There isn’t any fancy software or high-tech gadgets everywhere; it’s mostly just pens, paper, and a lot of patience. U P Vikas Corporation has been operating from this building for quite some time, so we know all the quirks of the place, like which window sticks when it rains. We have a small kettle for making tea, and that’s a big part of our afternoon routine. The walls are painted a simple cream color that’s faded a bit over the years. It feels like a stable place to work, away from the more hectic parts of the city. We aren't in a hurry to change things up too much. We just show up, do what needs to be done, and head home when the sun starts to go down. It’s a quiet, steady kind of business life for all of us here.
