Chaurasia General Store

We've been here at 104/407 on Mandir Road for quite a while now. Most people in Prem Nagar know us because we’re right across from Balaji Sweets. It’s a busy spot, especially in the evenings when everyone comes out for snacks. My family started Chaurasia General Store because people needed a place close by to grab salt, soap, or whatever ran out in the kitchen. Kanpur is a big city, but our corner feels small and familiar. Sometimes the fan makes a bit of noise, and the shelves get a little dusty during the dry months, but we try to keep things organized. I spend most of my day sitting on the stool near the counter. I see the same faces every morning. Some kids come in for a single piece of candy before school, and then their mothers come later for the monthly groceries. It’s a simple life. We don’t have fancy displays or anything. Just the regular stuff you use at home. Sometimes it gets crowded in the narrow aisle if more than three people come in at once. But nobody seems to mind much. We talk about the weather or how the road is being dug up again. Living and working here in Kanpur 208001 is just what we do. The address is easy to find if you’re looking for the temple nearby. We just keep the doors open and wait for whoever needs something. That is how it's been.
