If you head over to 70E in Pratap Ganj, you’ll find Bhatia Auto Store. We are right in the Gadarian Purwa area. The shop is basically packed from the floor to the ceiling with parts for all kinds of vehicles. It’s a bit of a maze inside because we try to keep as much as possible on hand. There is always a bit of oil or grease on the counters, and the smell of rubber tires is pretty strong. We’ve been here for years, and most of the locals know they can find us behind the counter, probably looking through an old catalog or checking a shelf. It isn't a showroom where everything is shiny; it’s a working shop for people who need to fix their cars or bikes. We have bins full of bolts and gaskets that take time to sort through. Sometimes customers come in not knowing exactly what they need, so we spend time looking at their old parts to find a match. It gets dusty, and the lighting isn’t the best, but we know where everything is located. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the inventory. The street outside is usually busy with people stopping by. We don’t do much advertising; we just stay open and help whoever walks in with a broken part in their hand. It's a simple, honest way to spend the day.
