Bauwa General Store

Bauwa General Store is tucked away at 86/426 on First Street in Dev Nagar. Being in Chamanganj, Kanpur, means there is always a lot of movement and noise around us. This is a real neighborhood shop where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We have been operating out of this small space for years now. We don't really have a fancy system for anything. We just write things down in a notebook and keep the change in a wooden drawer. The street outside can get quite narrow, but people still manage to bring their scooters right up to the front. We don't try to compete with those big places; we just provide what’s needed right here on the corner. Sometimes children come in with a few coins for some sweets, and that’s the busiest part of the day. It’s a modest way to make a living, but we are used to the rhythm of First Street.
