My brother and I have been running things here at No. 130 L -1/63 in Bakarganj Bagahi for quite a while now. It’s not a very big place, but we manage to fit everything in. Most mornings start with unlocking the heavy shutters and sweeping out the dust that somehow gets in overnight. Bakarganj is always noisy, even early on. You can hear the neighbors opening up their shops too. We usually sit on the wooden stools near the front. The walls are a bit faded, and we have boxes stacked almost to the ceiling in the back room. Sometimes it’s hard to find exactly what a person is looking for right away, so we have to move things around. We’ve known most people around here for years. They stop by just to talk sometimes, even if they don't need anything that day. We keep a small kettle for tea because someone is always dropping in. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, but we have a small fan that works okay. We don't really do fancy displays. We just put the items where there is space. It's a simple way to work. My father used to say that as long as the floor is clean and the books are right, everything is fine. We just try to get through the daily list of things to do and make sure the orders are ready when they should be. It’s a bit messy, but it’s our spot.
