Babban General Store

Babban General Store is located at Shop No-90/101 in Dalel Purwa. Chamanganj is a very crowded part of Kanpur, so there’s always a lot of noise and movement right outside the door. We’ve been here for quite some time now. The shop is small and packed to the ceiling with boxes and glass jars. We sell all sorts of things like soap, hair oil, pins, and plenty of snacks. It’s the kind of place where people stop for a quick chat while buying their daily needs. The streets are quite narrow here, so all our supplies have to be brought in on small rickshaws. I open up early in the morning before the afternoon heat gets too bad. Kanpur is known for its dust, and Chamanganj has plenty of it. Inside the shop, it’s a bit calmer than the street. I know most of the people who come in by their names because they've been shopping here for years. We don’t have any big neon signs or bright lights. Just the name painted on a simple board above the door. If you need a single egg or a whole bottle of cooking oil, we usually have it ready. My father used to run a similar place in another part of town, so I just followed him into this line of work. It’s honest, steady work. Sometimes the rain floods the street a bit, but we just put up some boards at the entrance and keep going anyway.
