Anand Awasthi General Store

The shop is located right at 40 Dukan in Kidwai Nagar. If you know the area, we are situated just in front of the State Bank. Being here in Kanpur, things stay pretty lively throughout the day. My family and I have been running this general store for quite some time now. It’s a basic place filled with all the daily items people need, like soaps, grains, and some snacks for the kids. We open up the shutters every morning and usually stay until quite late. It is funny how you get used to the constant sound of the traffic and the bank customers coming and going. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just keep sitting there in the dark until it comes back on. People come in mostly for small things they forgot to buy at the bigger markets. We have a lot of regular customers who have been visiting us since they were small children. It’s nice to see those same familiar faces day after day. The shelves are a bit high, so I am always climbing up to get something down for someone. We try to keep things organized, but in a small shop like this, stuff tends to pile up here and there. It is not like those big malls where everything is under bright lights. This is just a normal corner shop. We do our best to have what people want.
