Amore Boutique

Amore Boutique is in the Kalpana Building over in Swaroop Nagar. If you know where the Levis Showroom is, we are just a short walk from there. The shop is on the 7/188 side of the building. It is a busy part of Kanpur and there are always people out shopping or eating. Inside the boutique, we have racks of clothes and shelves full of different fabrics. We spend a lot of time helping people choose colors that look good on them. Sometimes a customer will come in with an idea they saw in a magazine and we try to make something similar but for a better fit. The sewing machines are in the back and they make a steady humming sound all day long. We have a big mirror where people can see how their new clothes look. It is often a bit crowded with bags and boxes, especially when a new shipment of cloth arrives. I have been running this place for a while and I know most of the regular customers by their first names. We talk about their families and what is happening in the neighborhood while we pin up their hems. It is a lot of work to get the stitching just right, and my eyes get tired by the end of the day. We don't do anything too fancy, just good clothes for the people here in Swaroop Nagar.
