Whakapapa Foundation

If you want to find us, we are located at 105/221 Amin House in the Chamanganj area of Kanpur Nagar. It is a busy, bustling part of town where there is always something going on right outside the door. Our foundation is a bit of a local effort, run by people who have lived in Kanpur for a long time. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment or a big budget, but we have plenty of energy. We spend most of our time dealing with the everyday issues that crop up in our neighborhood. It might be helping someone find a doctor or getting some kids the supplies they need for their classes. We don't really have a set routine because every day brings something different. Sometimes the office gets really crowded and everyone is talking at once, but we usually figure things out. We aren't trying to be a big deal or get our names in the paper. We just like the feeling of being useful and helping our neighbors when they are in a bind. The building itself is old and has a lot of character, much like the work we do. It’s not always pretty and it’s certainly not perfect, but it is honest and it is ours. We just keep plugging away, doing what we can with the little we have, and hoping that it makes some kind of a difference to the people living around Amin House every day.
