Our business, TANISHKA MARBLES AND TILES PRIVATE LIMITED, is situated at 133/167 O Block in the Sabji Mandi area of Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur. If you know Kanpur, you know that the vegetable market area is one of the busiest places you could ever be in. It is always crowded with carts, people, and the smell of fresh produce. Our shop is right in the middle of all that chaos, which makes for an interesting workday. We have stacks of marble slabs and boxes of tiles squeezed into our space. Moving these things through the crowded streets is always a challenge, but we’ve gotten quite good at it over the years. The shop itself is a bit cramped because tiles take up a lot of room. We spend a lot of time cleaning the surfaces because the market dust settles on everything within minutes. It’s a loud place, with shouting and horns honking all day long, but it’s home to us. We don’t have a quiet office to retreat to, just a small corner with a wooden desk and a ledger. We handle each customer as they come in between the busy market hours. It’s a very fast-paced environment where you have to be on your feet. We focus on keeping the stock organized so we can find what’s needed quickly.
