Sunil General Store

Sunil General Store is over at shop 171 in Damodar Nagar, Barra. We are quite close to the Vaishno Mandir, so on Tuesdays and Saturdays, it gets really busy with people coming from the temple. I usually have to stock up on extra incense and small snacks on those days. Kanpur summers are really tough, so the shop is a bit of a refuge when the sun is beating down on the street. It’s a small shop, but we try to keep everything from pens and notebooks to shampoo and cooking oil. I spend a lot of my time just rearranging stuff to make more room. The shelves are a bit crooked in places, but they hold up fine. I’ve been running this place for a while now, and I know almost every face that walks through the door. We talk about how the prices are going up or how the local cricket team is doing. It’s not just about selling things; it’s about being part of the Barra community. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to sit in the dark for a bit, but the customers don’t seem to mind much. We just keep a flashlight handy and keep talking. It’s a simple way to earn a living, and as long as people keep needing their daily supplies, we’ll be here at the counter near the mandir. We aren't doing anything big.
