Our business, Safeta Exim Priavte Limited, is based in Kanpur Nagar. Specifically, we are at 17/109, Nawab Sahab Hata in the Patkapur area. If you are from Kanpur, you know that Patkapur is an old part of the city with a lot of history and very tight streets. Our office is tucked away in one of these lanes. It is not a modern office park. It is a place that feels like it has been part of the neighborhood for a long time. We do a lot of import and export work from here. The space is a bit cramped because we have so many files and samples of things we trade. We often have people dropping by for a chat or to discuss a deal over tea. The atmosphere is very relaxed and local. We do not use much technology besides our basic computers and phones. Most of our business is done through old-fashioned conversations and handshakes. The noise from the street usually drifts into the office—scooters honking, people shouting, the usual city sounds. We like it that way. It keeps us connected to what is happening outside. We are not a huge corporation with departments and managers. It is just a few of us making sure the trading goes as planned and that our local suppliers are happy with how things are moving along.
