Rajat General Store

Rajat General Store is right on G.T. Road in Kanpur, specifically near the Shiv Mandir. Being near the temple means we get a lot of people stopping by on their way to offer prayers. They might need incense sticks or maybe just something small for the house. The traffic on G.T. Road is always loud and there’s a lot of smoke and noise from the trucks passing by. Our shop at House No 107 is basically where we spend all our time. We keep things like matches, washing powder, biscuits, and bottled water. It’s a local place, and we know the people who live in the houses behind the main road. The counter is always a bit dusty because of the road, but we keep the goods as clean as we can. We have these old metal shelves that we’ve had since the beginning. It's not fancy, and we don't have any big signs outside. Just the name and the items stacked up where people can see them. Sometimes we sit outside on a plastic stool when business is slow, watching the rickshaws go by. It’s a lot of work to keep everything stocked, especially when the big trucks block the entrance during deliveries. We just provide the basic things that people in this part of Kanpur need for their daily lives. It’s a steady job and we are used to the rhythm of the mandir bells and the traffic.
