Mamtamai Jagat Kalyan Foundation

Our foundation, Mamtamai Jagat Kalyan, is located at 3/293 in Awas Vikashanspuram. That’s in the Naubasta area. It’s a standard residential locality. We aren't in a big business district. We prefer it this way because it’s closer to the people. The house number is 3/293, so it’s easy to find once you are on the right street. We deal with various welfare tasks. It’s not always easy, but it’s what we do. The office is basically a modified part of a building. We have desks and chairs and not much else. There is no flashy signage outside. We don't believe in spending money on things like that. We would rather use our resources for the actual work. Naubasta is a lively place. There’s always noise from the street, which we’ve gotten used to. We started this because we saw a need in the neighborhood. People stop by quite often just to see what’s going on. We try to be welcoming without being formal. There’s no corporate hierarchy here. We all just pitch in. If the floor needs sweeping, one of us does it. If there’s a lot of paperwork, we all sit down and get through it. It’s a very hands-on way to run a foundation. We’ve been at this address for a while and don't plan on moving. It’s our base. It works for us and the people we help. We just keep at it.
