Maira Homebuild Private Limited is located over in the Zazmau area of Kanpur. We are currently at Khalid Mahboob’s place. Zazmau is a busy part of the city, known for all the industries and the river being nearby. Running a building company here is interesting because there is always something going on. We are not some big firm with an office in a skyscraper. We just work from here and go out to whatever site needs us that day. Construction is a messy business, and our workspace usually reflects that. There is always some dust on the boots and maps of the city spread out on the table. We do not have a formal mission statement or anything like that. We just want to build houses that people can actually live in without things falling apart. Kanpur has its own way of doing things, and you have to know the local suppliers and the right people if you want to get anything finished on time. We have spent years figuring that out. Sometimes we run into problems with the old infrastructure in this part of town, but that is just part of the job. We do not spend time on fancy speeches or trying to look important. If you need a wall put up or a roof fixed, we are the people who show up and do it. It is a simple life, but it keeps us busy and we like the people we work with. Most days are long, but we just keep going.
