We are situated on Maswanpur Road in the Rawatpur area of Kanpur. If you know this part of the city, you know it can get pretty crowded and noisy. Our office is right there in the middle of it all, with the 208019 pin code. It is a straightforward place. We have a front door that stays open most of the day to let people in. There aren't any glass partitions or high-tech security systems. It is just a federation office where the staff sits around a few wooden tables. We spend a lot of time looking at ledgers and documents. Kanpur can be very dusty, so we are always wiping down the desks. The atmosphere is very casual. We talk about the local cricket matches or the weather while we work. It isn't a place for big corporate meetings. It is a place where locals come when they have something to discuss regarding the foundation. We try to keep the space organized, but with so much paper moving around, it is a constant battle. The lighting isn't the best, especially when it rains and gets gloomy outside, but we have enough lamps to keep going. We don't have a mission statement on the wall or any motivational posters. We just have a calendar and a clock. It is a very basic, functional workspace for people who live and work in the Rawatpur locality.
