Jai Baba Tea Stall.

Mall Road in Kanpur is a very busy place, and it’s always full of cars and people moving around. Our little spot, Jai Baba Tea Stall, is located at 45 Mall Road, right across from the Globus building. It’s not a big fancy cafe or anything like that. We just have a small counter where I boil the tea all day long. I start early in the morning, around 6 am, because that’s when the first workers start showing up. The smell of the ginger and cardamom gets quite strong. I use a lot of milk, and the tea is thick, just how people here like it. Sometimes the traffic noise is so loud I can barely hear what the customers are ordering. We have a few benches where people sit and chat for a while. You see all kinds of folks here, from office workers to rickshaw pullers. It’s a good place to see the world go by. I’ve been doing this for many years now and the stall hasn't changed much. The walls have some soot from the stove, and the floor is just plain concrete. I keep some packs of biscuits and maybe some rusk on the side. It's a simple life. I don't have a website or any flyers. People just know where we are. If you're near Globus and want a hot cup, you’ll see us there by the side of the road. It gets cold in winter and that's when we are busiest. I just keep the stove going.
