Our office is at 205 in the Chandralok Complex on Birhana Road in Kanpur. Birhana Road is one of those places that is always crowded, no matter what time of day it is. The Chandralok Complex is a well-known building, but it’s a bit old now. Our space is on the second floor. It’s not a huge office, but it’s enough for what we do here at the Ipr Awareness & Innovation Promotion Forum. We spend a lot of time talking about patents and ideas, which might sound complicated, but we just try to help people understand the basics. The office has a lot of shelves filled with books and folders. It’s a bit cramped when more than three or four people are in there at once. The lift in the building sometimes stops working, so we end up taking the stairs quite a bit. It’s good exercise, I suppose. Kanpur is a city that never really stops, and being on Birhana Road means we are right in the thick of it. We don't have any flashy signs or big posters. Just a small plate on the door. We aren't a big government department or anything, just a group of people interested in innovation. We usually have some light music playing in the background to drown out the noise of the traffic from the street below. Sometimes we have people dropping in without an appointment, just wanting to ask a quick question. We try to help them out even if we are busy with our own files.
