Amco Scaffolding

You can find us at Amco Scaffolding right on the G. T. Road Bye Pass. It is a noisy spot because of all the highway traffic going past, but it makes it easier for the big trucks to pull in and out without getting stuck in the city mess. We have stacks and stacks of metal poles and those heavy couplers lying around the yard in big heaps. Most of the time, our clothes are stained with a bit of rust or some grease because that is just how the scaffolding business is. We spend a lot of hours out in the sun counting up pipes and making sure the wooden planks aren’t warped or broken. It isn't the kind of job where you ever wear a nice suit. We are usually in our old shirts and heavy boots, moving gear from one pile to another. When the weather gets bad, the yard turns into a bit of a muddy mess, but we keep working through it to get the loads ready. People come to us because they know where we are located on the bypass. We don't do much talking about big goals; we just make sure the poles are straight and the clamps actually work. We have a small tin cabin where we keep the books and the phone, and that is about as formal as we get. It is just a straightforward life on the edge of the road.
