Floater India Infrastructure Private Limited is tucked away at number 24 in Om Purwa. If you know the Kanpur area, you know it's a bit of a maze back there. We’ve been working from this spot for some time now. Our day is mostly filled with talks about infrastructure projects and where the next load of sand is coming from. It’s gritty work. There is always dust on the boots and the smell of diesel around. We don’t do much advertising because most people find us just by asking around the neighborhood. It’s a very local operation. We have a small desk and a few chairs where we handle the accounts and the planning. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to wait it out or work by the door where there is more light. That is just how life in Kanpur goes. We don't have a PR team or anyone writing fancy speeches for us. We just talk to the laborers and the suppliers directly. Dealing with the heat in the summer makes the outdoor work tough, but we keep pushing through. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just building things that need to be built and making sure the workers get paid on time. It is a simple business run by people who grew up around here and know the streets well.
