Djp Welfare Foundation

We are tucked away on the third floor of the building where Anurag Hospital is in Vikas Nagar. Most people find us because they’re already in Geeta Nagar for something else. It’s a bit of a climb up to the office, but the view of Kanpur from up here is okay if you like seeing the city bustle. Djp Welfare Foundation started because a few of us wanted to do something useful with our spare time. It isn't a fancy setup. We have some plastic chairs, a couple of old desks, and a lot of paperwork. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit by the window to talk. It's mostly quiet work. People come in with different problems, and we try to see what we can do. It’s not always easy, especially when the traffic down on the road gets loud. We’ve been at 117/688 O Block for a while now. Most of our neighbors know us by now. We don't have a big staff, just a few local folks who care about what’s happening in Kanpur Nagar. Some days are slow and we just drink tea and plan things. Other days, the phone doesn't stop ringing. We just keep at it because it feels right to help out where we can in our own neighborhood. There’s no big secret to how we work, we just show up every morning and see who needs a hand.
