Chauhan General Store.

We have been here at Shop No 3 on Lal Banglow Road for quite some time now. It is a small place, right near the Ibp petrol pump, which makes it easy for people to find us when they are out getting petrol. Most of the folks who live around here in Kanpur know the spot. We just keep the basic things people need for their houses every day. It gets a bit crowded in the mornings when everyone is rushing for their daily supplies, but that is just how it goes. My family helps out with the shelves and sitting at the counter when I am busy with the stock. It is not a big fancy showroom or anything like that. Just a regular general store with shelves full of stuff. Sometimes the supply trucks come late and we have to wait around, but we try to keep things moving. We open up early because that is when the neighborhood starts moving. The heat in Kanpur can be really something, so the shop feels like a little break from the sun sometimes. We know most of the people by their names since they have been coming here for years. If someone asks for something we don't have, we usually try to get it in the next order. It is a simple way of working. The space is small but we fit everything in without too much trouble. It is just our way of life here.
