Amethi Janshakti Sewa Foundation

Amethi Janshakti Sewa Foundation is run right out of a house in the village. The address is house number 23 in Raypur Phoolvara, which is part of the Amethi area near CSM Nagar. This is where we grew up and where we still live today. It isn't a fancy office building with glass windows. It is just a regular home where we have set aside some space to do our work. The village is quite peaceful most of the time, though it gets a bit lively during the local markets. We don't have a lot of staff or a big budget. It is mostly just us and a few neighbors who want to help out. We spend a lot of time walking through the streets and talking to people about what they need. Sometimes it’s about the local roads or helping a family get their paperwork sorted. We don't use a lot of big words or have meetings in boardrooms. We usually just sit on the porch with some tea and talk things through. The summers here in Amethi can be really hot, so we do most of our heavy work in the early mornings before it gets too bad. We aren't doing this to get famous. We just think it’s important to look after our own community. It’s a simple life and we are happy to be doing something useful in Raypur Phoolvara.
