Wes Tind Cafe

If you walk down Market Road in Taliparamba, you’ll find us easily enough. We are at 1256, right in the middle of Paranki Bazar. It is a very loud area, especially on market days when everyone is out buying things. Velapuram has its own rhythm, and we are just one part of it. The cafe isn't very large, just enough space for a few people to sit and the rest of us to work behind the counter. We start early, usually before the sun is even fully up, because the market starts moving then. People come in for a quick drink before they go to their stalls or start their shopping. We see the same faces every single day. Some people have been coming here since we first opened the doors. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time to do it yet. There is always something else to fix or a delivery coming in the back door. We don't spend money on advertising or anything like that. People just know where we are because of the location. Sometimes we run out of chairs when it gets really crowded, and people just stand around the door talking. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that is just how a busy cafe in a market should be. We just try to keep the water hot and the cups clean and make sure the beans are fresh for the next day's customers who arrive at dawn.
