Ramchandran Rice & Flour Mill

We are located out in Pallichal, near the Cherukunnu Post area. It’s a local mill that has been around for some time now. We handle both rice and flour here, which keeps us pretty busy. The daily routine is pretty much the same every morning when we arrive. We get the machines started and the whole building starts to vibrate a little bit once the power kicks in. It’s a loud place to work, so we use a lot of hand signals when we need to communicate with each other over the noise. Most of our customers are locals from around Pallichal who bring their own grains for us to process for their families. We see a lot of the same people week after week. It’s nice to have that connection with the neighborhood and hear the local news. The air is always a bit thick with the smell of crushed grain and fine dust. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room with chairs. Usually, you’ll just find us in the back near the grinders doing the actual work. We keep the sacks piled up near the door for easy pickup by the customers. It is physical work, and by the end of the day, we are usually pretty tired. But it’s what we do. We’ve been part of this community for years, and we don't plan on going anywhere. The mill is just a simple building where we do the work that needs doing every single day.
