Oceanus

Oceanus is run by Mathews Sebastian from the Kariankal House. We are in Edayar, which is under the Kannoth P O in Kannur. It’s a family house that doubles as our work space. Living and working in the same place means we are always around if something needs to be done. The surroundings are very green, which is typical for this part of Kerala. We have a small room dedicated to the business stuff. There is an old wooden desk and a couple of cupboards for all the files. We don’t have a lot of visitors, mostly it’s just the people we work with directly. The internet can be a bit slow out here, so we do a lot of things over the phone. We’ve lived in this house for a long time. It’s a quiet life in Edayar. We start early in the morning before it gets too hot for everyone. Our work is straightforward and we don’t try to make it seem more complicated than it is. We handle whatever comes our way. Sometimes the rain makes it hard to get around, but that’s just how it is in Kannur. We don't have any staff in uniforms or a big office building. It’s just Mathews and the local people who help out when needed. We value the relationships we have with the folks in our village. It’s a small operation but it keeps us busy every day. That's about it. We like it here.
