Milma Kannur Dairy

Milma Kannur Dairy has been part of the daily routine here in P.O. Pallikkunu for as long as I can remember. Everything starts really early in the morning, usually while it's still dark outside. You can hear the trucks coming in and the clinking of the crates. That’s the sound of the day starting for us. We handle a lot of milk here, obviously, being a dairy. It’s a lot of work getting everything sorted and ready for the people in Kannur. The air around the facility always has that specific smell of fresh dairy. It’s not a bad smell, just something you get used to after a week of working here. Our location near the post office makes it a central point for a lot of the local guys. Sometimes the weather gets really humid, and that makes the heavy lifting a bit tougher, but we just get on with it. There’s no point complaining about the heat when the milk needs to stay cold. We aren't trying to be some big corporate giant; we just want to make sure the bags of milk get to where they need to go every single day without any fuss. The staff here are mostly local people from around Pallikkunu. We know each other’s families and what’s going on in the village. It’s a small operation in the grand scheme of things, but it keeps us busy from dawn until we finish up in the afternoon.
