Metro Super Market

The shop is at 77 Sn Park Road in Talap. It’s a busy stretch of road, especially when the schools let out. We spend a lot of our time just restocking the milk and the bread because those are the first things to go. The aisles are a bit narrow, so you have to be careful not to knock things over with your elbows. We try to keep the floor swept, but with people coming in and out all day, there’s always a bit of dust. The lights hum a little bit if you listen closely. We’ve got a small counter where the register sits, and sometimes the receipt paper jams right when there’s a long line. It’s frustrating, but people around here are mostly patient. We know most of the families in Talap by now. You see the kids growing up and coming in for their own snacks eventually. There’s a big window in the front that looks out onto the street. I spend a lot of time looking out there when it's slow. The delivery guys usually show up in the middle of the afternoon when it’s hottest. We have to move fast to get everything into the back room before it gets too warm. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying. We’re just a regular market trying to keep the shelves full for whoever walks through the door. Nothing more to it than that, really. It gets dark early on this street, so we make sure the outside light is on.
