Our shop, La Shades Latest In Ladies Fashion, is right near the Chalad Islamic Centre in the Chalad area. It’s a pretty easy spot to find if you are familiar with the post office nearby. Inside, we have mostly things for women, ranging from everyday wear to stuff that's a bit more decorative. A lot of time goes into unboxing new arrivals and looking for any tears or missing buttons. The space is okay, not too cramped, but when we get a big shipment, it gets a bit tight for a few hours. No big marketing plan exists here. Opening the doors in the morning and waiting for people to come by is our usual routine. The neighborhood is quiet mostly, except for the times when everyone is out running errands. Keeping the displays looking decent is a priority, but sometimes things get shuffled around when it’s busy. Usually, one of us is at the counter while the other is in the back organizing the hangers. It’s a lot of manual work, really. Having been in Chalad for a bit now, we find that people seem to know the name La Shades. Signs are kept simple without any loud colors. The clothes just sit on the racks for people to see. Keeping the shop running and making sure there’s enough variety is just a regular job for us. Mirrors are kept clean and the floor is mopped daily. It’s just how we do things here every day. We might even close early if it is raining too hard or if things are very slow.
