Nittadukkam House is where we are located, over in the Balla area of Kanhangad. This is in the Kasaragod district of Kerala. It’s a bit of a different setup because the office is in a house, which is quite common in these parts of the state. It’s very green all around us, especially when the monsoon starts and everything turns a bright shade of emerald. We handle the local government work for this region. It’s a slow-paced kind of place. We don't have a big sign or a fancy lobby to greet people. You just walk in and see us at our desks. There’s usually a pot of tea going somewhere in the back room. We deal with land records, local certificates, and the general needs of the people living around Kanhangad. It’s a lot of talking to neighbors and sorting through handwritten documents that have been around for years. The air is salty because we aren't too far from the coast. Sometimes the power goes out when the wind gets high, and we just sit and wait or work by the windows while we wait for it to come back. It’s an honest way to spend the day. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words or polished reports. We just do the work that the government requires of us for this district. It is a practical, small-town office life. Everyone knows where Nittadukkam House is, so we get a lot of foot traffic from the community.
