Flowers Biosciences

Flowers Biosciences is situated right on Coorg Road in Manakadavu. It’s a pretty stretch of road. We have a lot of greenery around us. We spend most of our time in the lab or out checking the samples. It’s a lot of looking at small things. Manakadavu is a good place for this kind of work because it’s not too loud. We don't have a big corporate lobby. You just walk in and you’re in the middle of everything. There are always containers and glass jars sitting around. We try to keep them labeled properly. Sometimes the labels peel off when it gets humid. We just write them again. It’s not a perfect system but it works for us. We don't wear suits. Mostly just lab coats or old clothes. We focus on the science part of it. The business side takes care of itself. We’ve been here on Coorg Road for quite some time now. We know the local shopkeepers. They see us coming for lunch every day. We don't talk much about things like missions or visions. We just talk about the data we see. It’s more honest that way. Some days the results are good, and some days they aren't. We just keep testing. That’s what we do here. There is a nice breeze that comes through the window in the afternoons. It makes the long hours of looking through a microscope a lot more bearable. We don't need fancy things to do good research.
