First Image Media Education

We are based in Kerala, and that’s where we run First Image Media Education. It’s not one of those huge institutes you see in the big cities with thousand-foot campuses. We are a much smaller operation. We mostly teach people how to use cameras, edit their videos, and understand how the media works. It started because we saw a lot of kids in the area who wanted to learn this stuff but didn't want to move to a big city. Our rooms are filled with equipment that we’ve gathered over the years. It’s a bit cramped sometimes when a full class is in, but it makes for a good atmosphere. The teachers here are just regular people who have spent time in the industry. They aren't formal professors; they just know how to get the job done. We spend a lot of time doing practical work because that's the only way to really learn media. Kerala is a beautiful place to film, so we often take the students out to practice. Sometimes the rain ruins our plans, but that’s part of living here. We don't have any fancy marketing brochures or a big sales team. Most people find out about us through word of mouth. It’s just a place to learn skills that can help someone get a job. We keep it simple and honest. Most of our days are spent in the lab.
