Albutha Matha Margin Free Mart

We are down at 74 Church Street in Thuthur. It is a busy spot, mostly because of the church being so close. We started Albutha Matha Margin Free Mart a while back just to give people here a place to get their things without traveling too far. Every morning starts about the same. We open up the shutters, sweep the front bit, and start checking what we ran out of yesterday. It’s a lot of lifting boxes and making sure the packets are lined up right on the shelves. People come in for small things mostly, like a bit of sugar or some soap they forgot to buy. We know most of the faces that walk through the door. Some stay for a minute to talk about the weather or how the fishing is going lately. It gets a bit crowded on Sundays for obvious reasons. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the crates pile up in the back when the delivery truck comes late. That’s just how it goes here. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. It’s just a plain store with what you need for the kitchen and the house. If we don’t have something, we usually try to get it in for the next week. It’s a simple way to make a living and keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down and we lock up.
