Thuckalay Nidhi Limited

Thuckalay Nidhi Limited is right here in Mulagumoodu. We sit on the first floor of the Kanyakumari Social Service Society building. It’s easy to find. Most folks around here know the spot. We mostly deal with small savings and help neighbors out with bits of money when they need it. It’s not a big fancy office. Just a couple of desks and some chairs where people sit and talk. We’ve seen the town change a lot lately. People stop by after finishing their work or on their way to the market. We keep track of the accounts manually or on the old computer. It’s a quiet place usually. Sometimes it gets busy on Mondays. We don't have a lot of staff, just a few of us who grew up in Kanyakumari. We know the families around here. If you walk up the stairs at No.1, you'll see our door. The society building is a bit of a landmark so no one really gets lost. We try to be helpful without making things complicated. No one likes too many forms. We just do what we do every day. It’s a job and it helps the community keep their money safe nearby. That’s really all there is to it. We stay open until the evening most days unless there's a local festival or something going on in town. It can get a little warm in the afternoons so we usually have the windows open to catch the breeze. We aren't far from the main road so you can hear the buses going by all day long.
