About Thiraviyam Coco Product – Food & Beverages in Kanniyakumari
We've been at No. 3/16B in Keezha Krishnan Puthoor for a good while now. Most people here in Pallam know where we are because of the big stacks of husks near the road. Dealing with coco products isn't always easy work; it's quite dusty and involves a lot of heavy lifting under the sun, but it's what we do every single day. My brother and a few cousins usually handle the loading and the sorting while I take care of the paperwork and phone calls at a small wooden table. We started out very small, just a few basic machines in the back shed, and it stayed that way for years because we liked the slow pace. The air always smells like husk and damp earth around here, especially after a light rain. Sometimes the monsoon makes it hard to dry things out properly, so we just have to wait for the sun to come back out and do its job. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. Just a big shed and some open space to stack the finished goods before the trucks arrive. We mostly deal with people we’ve known for a decade or more. If the truck is late, we just sit in the shade, have some tea, and wait. That's just how life goes in this part of town. We try to keep the place tidy but with coconut fiber blowing around, that is a losing battle most days. You just get used to it being on your clothes. People drop by constantly, we talk.
