Our mill is located on Ganj Road in Nawapara Rajim. It’s a straightforward operation where we deal with both oil and dal. If you walk down the road, you can usually hear the sound of the oil press long before you see the sign. There is a very specific smell here—a mix of crushed seeds and earthy pulses. It’s a smell that stays on your clothes even after you go home. The mill is a busy place with sacks of raw materials being brought in by tractors and trucks. We spend a lot of our time making sure the machines are properly lubricated and running as they should. It’s dusty work, and the floors are often covered in a fine layer of husk or oil residue. We have a small office near the front where we handle the billing and talk to the farmers who bring in their crops. The community here is tight-knit, and many of the people who work with us have lived in Nawapara Rajim their whole lives. We don’t have much in the way of fancy decorations; it’s just a functional workspace designed for heavy lifting and processing. During the peak harvest season, we work long hours to keep up with all the incoming grain. It’s tiring, but there’s a sense of satisfaction in seeing the final product ready for the market. We just take it one day at a time, keeping the mill going.
