Sudharshanam Pharmaceutical

Being in Kanhangad, things feel a bit different than the bigger cities. Sudharshanam Pharmaceutical is our little corner of the world. We open the shop and the first thing we do is check the list of what we ran out of the day before. Kanhangad has a nice feel to it, not too rushed but not too sleepy either. We get a mix of people coming in, from students to elderly folks who have lived here forever. The shop is filled with that specific smell of a pharmacy, a bit like alcohol and paper. We have wooden shelves that have been here since we first started out. They’ve gone a bit dark with age and have some marks on them. We don’t use a lot of complicated systems here. We write things down in a big ledger book and check them off. It’s how we’ve always done it and it works fine for us. Sometimes the local kids run past and make a lot of noise outside, or a stray dog sits near the doorway to get some shade from the sun. We just go about our business. Dealing with distributors is probably the hardest part of the job, especially when they forget an item we really need for a regular customer. But we manage. We aren’t trying to impress anyone with big words or a shiny storefront. We just want to make sure the people in Kanhangad can get what they need without too much fuss or waiting.
