Periya Cement Agencies

Our shop, Periya Cement Agencies, is located right in the middle of Periya Bazaar. We are just a short walk from the Periya Post Office, which makes it easy for people to explain where we are. It is a dusty kind of job, dealing with cement all day. The bags are heavy and they leave a white film on everything if you aren't careful. We open up early in the morning when the bazaar is just starting to wake up. You can hear the shutters clanging open all down the street. We have been in this spot for years, watching the bazaar change and the roads get paved and then dug up again. People come by to talk about their house repairs or the new sheds they are building. We don't have a big corporate office or a team of people in suits. It is just us here, moving bags and keeping the accounts in a thick ledger. The weather really dictates our day. When it rains, things slow down because nobody wants wet cement, so we just sit under the awning and watch the water run off into the street. It is a simple life and we know most of the people who walk past our door by their first names. We just do our bit to keep the local building projects moving along without making too much of a fuss about it.
