Tong-Len Social Enterprise Private Limited

Our little enterprise is based over in Sarah, right where the Tong-len Charitable Trust is. It’s not a huge operation, just a group of us trying to make things work in this part of the tehsil. We spend most of our time dealing with the practical side of things. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here sometimes, but it’s home for us. We started this because we saw a need in the community and figured we could help fill it. Most days are spent on the ground, talking to folks and making sure everything is running okay. We don't really do the whole corporate thing with suits and big meetings. It is more about getting your hands dirty and making sure the work gets finished by the end of the day. Sarah is a nice place to be, even when the rain comes down hard during the monsoon. We’ve got a small office space that serves its purpose. It isn't anything fancy, just some desks and a lot of paperwork. We’ve been part of the local landscape for a while now and most people in the area know what we’re about. It’s hard work, but it’s honest. We don’t spend much time talking about what we do, we just go ahead and do it. That’s how we like to run things here. There is always tea on the stove and someone ready to listen to whatever is going on in the village.
