The Flourishing Flora

The Flourishing Flora is located on the Tipa Dharamkot Road, right across from the TIPA building in McLeodganj. It’s a steep walk up here, but the air is always a bit fresher than it is down in the main square. We have plants and flowers everywhere, so the shop feels a bit like a jungle sometimes. We spend a lot of our time watering everything and trimming back the leaves that have gone brown. Because we are right on the road to Dharamkot, we see a lot of backpackers and locals walking past all day long. Some people stop just to look at the colors, and others are looking for something specific for their guesthouse or home. The weather in McLeodganj can be tricky for plants, so we’re always moving pots around to catch the sun or get them out of the heavy rain. It’s a small shop, and sometimes it's hard to move around without bumping into a fern or a bucket of lilies. We don't have a big corporate team; it’s just us making sure the flowers don’t wilt. It’s a nice way to spend the day, even if our hands are always dirty and the floor is usually wet from the watering cans. It’s a simple spot in a busy part of town. Most of our days are spent just making sure things don't dry out in the mountain wind. It can get quite loud with the traffic from Dharamkot, but once you step inside and see all the green, it feels much calmer.
