Tara Chand & Sons

Our shop, Tara Chand & Sons, is up in Kunnu Village. It’s part of the Joginder Nagar Tehsil, so we’re surrounded by hills and a lot of greenery. The Kunnu Post Office is nearby, which makes it easy for people to give directions to our place. It’s a family thing, passed down a bit, and we’ve kept the name the same all these years. The air is always a bit fresher up here than it is down in the plains. In the winter, it gets quite chilly, and we all have to wear heavy sweaters while we work. The building itself is older, with thick walls and a roof that’s seen many seasons. We don’t have a website or fancy social media pages. We just show up every morning and open the locks. Sometimes the electricity goes out if there’s a storm, but we just light a few candles and keep going. Most of the people who come by are folks we’ve known for twenty years. We talk about the weather and the crops before we even get to business. It’s a comfortable way to live. There’s a lot of paperwork to deal with, but we manage it one day at a time. It’s just a small family operation in a quiet corner of the district. We don’t need much more than that to stay happy and keep the doors open for the village.
