Shree Nainadevi Rice Mill

Our place, Shree Nainadevi Rice Mill, is over on Namour Road. It’s a decent-sized operation but we keep things pretty simple. The main building is where all the action happens, and it can get incredibly hot in there during the peak of summer. We mostly just focus on the processing and making sure the grain is handled right. There are stacks of bags everywhere you look, and we try to keep them sorted by date. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving things from one side of the shed to the other. We don't use any fancy computer systems; we just write things down in a big ledger we keep in the small shack near the entrance. The road outside isn't too busy, which is nice because it means fewer distractions. Sometimes a stray dog will wander in looking for shade, and we let them stay as long as they don't get underfoot. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the most famous place around. We just want to do a solid day's work and keep the equipment in good repair. The life of a miller isn't something people write books about, but it’s what we know. We just take it one day at a time here on Namour Road, watching the seasons change and the grain come and go. It keeps our hands busy.
