Our office is located up in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. The air is definitely fresher here than in the plains, but the terrain makes everything a bit more complicated. We are in the 176056 pin code area. Working for Reliance Energy Ltd in the mountains means you have to be ready for the weather to change at any moment. Sometimes the clouds come right down to the windows and it gets quite dark during the day. We have a small team and we all wear sweaters for most of the year because it stays chilly. The office isn't anything special, just a few rooms with basic desks and some old wooden cupboards for the files. We don't have any high-tech gadgets or fancy coffee machines, just a simple kettle and some tea bags. People around here are friendly and they often stop by just to chat for a minute while they are out doing their errands. Everything moves a bit slower in the hills and we don't mind that at all. We just do our best to keep up with the paperwork and the local energy issues. There is no corporate ladder to climb here, just a lot of daily tasks that need our attention. It is a humble place and we like the fact that it is quiet enough to actually hear yourself think. We just do our jobs and enjoy the view.
