We are situated right on Temple Road in Mcleod Ganj, not very far from the Namgyal Monastery. It is a beautiful spot in Dharamshala, and we feel lucky to be working here every day. Namgyal Cafe is not about being fancy or showing off to anyone. It is just a place where you can get a hot drink and something to eat while you watch the world go by on the street outside. The weather up here in the mountains can be a bit unpredictable, so we try to make the inside of the cafe feel warm and welcoming for everyone. We have got a mix of people coming in—travelers from far away, monks from the monastery, and locals who live just around the corner. We do not have a big corporate strategy or a five-year plan. We just decide what we are going to bake or cook in the morning and go from there. The kitchen is quite small, so almost everything is done in small batches. This usually means everything stays fresh throughout the day. We have been part of the Mcleod Ganj community for a long while now. We have seen the seasons change many times from our windows. If the cafe is full, people just wait a bit or share a table with a stranger. That is just the way it is here. We are not trying to change the world, just trying to provide a nice corner for anyone who walks in.
