Indian Navy

Being up here in Bir, things are a lot different than the big city offices. We are tucked away in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, and the air is definitely thinner and cooler. Most of the time, the view of the mountains is the only thing that stays the same. The work here at this Indian Navy branch is quiet but steady. We handle things locally from the village post office area in Bir. It is a small place compared to the big bases down south. You might see a few of us walking around Teh Baijnath when we have a bit of time off. The weather can be tricky, especially when it rains hard or the winter cold sets in, but we just put on more layers and keep the stove going. We don’t have fancy elevators or big glass windows here. It is just a practical setup for the guys stationed in this part of the north. We deal with the logistics and whatever else comes our way from the main commands. It is a slow pace of life in the village, but the work we do for the Navy is still there on the table every morning. We just try to get through the day’s list without making too much of a fuss about it. The mountains make the long hours feel a bit easier to handle.
