You can find us over at Vishal Choudhary’s place in Village Birta. It’s near the Ghurkari post office in the Kangra district. Himachal Organic Honey Farmers Producer Company Limited is a long name, but we are really just a group of farmers who care about bees and honey. Kangra is a good place for bees because of all the wildflowers and trees. We spend a lot of time out in the gear, checking on the hives. It’s not always easy, especially when the weather turns cold or the flowers aren't blooming like they should. We don't have a fancy store. Most of our stuff happens right there in the village or out in the nearby fields. We started this as a producer company so we could work together instead of everyone trying to do it alone. It’s a lot of manual labor, carrying boxes and making sure the bees are healthy. Sometimes we get stung, but that’s just part of it. We talk to each other about the honey yields and the different seasons. It’s a very local thing, very grounded. We don't have a marketing guy or anyone to write pretty letters. We just produce honey and try to make sure it’s handled the right way. Village life in 176001 keeps us pretty busy and it feels good to be part of something that belongs to the community.
